The Singers were formed in 1999 as a result of an advertisement placed in the local paper, with Wyn Turner being asked to start the group and has been the Choir's musical director ever since. Over fifty people responded to the advert with rehearsals started in March of that year and after only eight weeks of rehearsals, we gave our very first performance in the Parish Church.
One of the main principles when the Choir first formed was that we would not be a 'Choral Society' and embrace music from all genres. Our concerts over the years have embraced classical to modern music, delving into musicals, madrigals and popular music using backing tracks and video enhancements.
The Choir has toured Normandy and also performed in a variety of venues across Devon, including Buckfast Abbey, Dawlish, Torquay, Barnstaple and in the recent years at St Peters Church, Buckland-in-the-Moor. Over the past years we have raised thousands of pounds for various local and national charities and this year the Choir is proud to be supporting the Devon Freewheelers and their blood bikes.
